Singpass-verified membership · PDPA-ready

Verify every member
before they walk in.

Gyms and clubs run on trust in who's on the floor: the right person, the right age, the right rate. SingVMS confirms each member's identity, age, and residency through Singpass, so onboarding is real, pass-back is visible, and 18+ areas stay 18+. No more IC photocopies at the counter.

50 free check-ins included. No credit card required.

What member verification means here

Singpass member verification confirms who a gym or club member actually is, using Singapore's national digital identity. At sign-up it prefills a verified name, a masked NRIC, and the two facts most gyms guess at: age and residential status. On entry it can bind each check-in to a real identity instead of a shareable card. The member taps Singpass, and you get a record you can stand behind.

A typical visitor logbook today

The front desk is verifying nothing.

Membership sign-up still runs on an IC photocopy and a form. The door runs on a fob or a card that anyone can borrow. Age for a combat class or a sauna is judged by looking at someone. Resident rates come down to which IC colour a staff member thinks they saw. None of it is verified, and the IC photocopy on file is exactly the collection PDPC guidance now restricts.

NRIC authentication phase-out: 31 Dec 2026

The PDPC has restricted collecting full NRIC numbers by default since 2019, and from 31 December 2026 organisations must also stop using the NRIC as an authentication factor, with enforcement stepping up from 1 January 2027. Photocopying an IC at gym sign-up falls squarely inside that.

Set your rules

Add each location with its minimum age and resident vs foreigner rate tiers.

3

Why SingVMS for gyms

Verify the things a card can’t.

A membership card proves someone holds a card. Singpass proves who they are, how old they are, and whether the resident rate applies.

Verified member onboarding

Prefill the membership record from MyInfo: verified name, masked NRIC, date of birth, contact. No IC photocopy, no typos, no fake details on the sign-up form.

Pass-back becomes visible

Each check-in is bound to a real identity, not a fob. When one membership shows two different verified people, you see it instead of quietly losing the revenue.

Automatic age gating

A verified date of birth blocks under-age sign-ups and entries to 18+ classes, combat training, saunas, and spa areas. No guessing, no awkward ID request at the door.

Resident rates, confirmed

Verified residential status applies the Citizen, PR, or foreigner tier from the same records the government uses. No IC-colour guesswork, no rate disputes.

Verified guest and day passes

Guests and buddy passes check in with Singpass, tied to a real identity. Cap repeat use to stop one person cycling through free trials under different names.

PDPA-ready, no IC copies

Consent is built into the Singpass flow, the full NRIC is never stored, and only the fields you configure are collected. Retire the photocopier at the counter.

Who this is for

Built for every kind of
gym, studio, and club.

Anywhere membership, age, or resident rates decide who gets on the floor.

High Volume

Commercial gym chains

Verified onboarding across every branch, with pass-back made visible on one dashboard. Kill shared-fob leakage that quietly drains membership revenue.

Trust

Boutique fitness studios

A fast, modern check-in that looks the part for a premium brand. Verify class members without a clipboard or an ID request at the door.

Trust

Private members’ clubs

Confirm each member and guest is who they claim to be. Verified guest passes keep the club exclusive without slowing arrivals.

Regulatory

Sports & recreation facilities

Apply resident and foreigner rates from verified residential status, not an IC glance. Clean records for facilities that report on usage.

Safety

Martial arts & combat gyms

Gate 18+ classes on a verified date of birth, and tie liability waivers to a confirmed identity instead of a signature on an unverified form.

Safety

24-hour & unstaffed gyms

With no one at the door, the fob is the only control, and fobs get shared. Bind entry to a Singpass identity so access means the actual member.

Worked example

A 17-year-old signs up for an adults-only boxing class. On the old form, nobody catches it: the field says whatever they type, and the coach assumes reception checked. With SingVMS, the member taps Singpass, MyInfo returns a verified date of birth, and because the class minimum is set to 18, the sign-up is blocked before payment. The same flow does two more jobs in one tap. A returning member scans in and the check-in is logged against their real identity, so when the same membership is used by a friend the following week, a second verified name appears on the account and the pass-back shows up in your dashboard. And when a member on an Employment Pass registers, their non-resident status is confirmed from MyInfo, so the foreigner rate is applied automatically rather than argued over at the counter.

FAQ

Gym & club verification questions

Common questions about verifying members, ages, and rates with Singpass.

Every check-in is tied to a government-verified identity, not to a card or fob that anyone can hand over. When a membership is used by two different people, your dashboard shows two different verified identities against the same account, so pass-back becomes visible instead of invisible. You decide when it applies: a Singpass check-in on entry, at first visit only, or as random spot-checks.

Yes. Singpass returns a verified date of birth from MyInfo, so age is confirmed from government records rather than a self-declared form. You set a minimum age per location, class, or facility, and anyone under it is blocked at sign-up or check-in. That covers combat and heavy-strength classes, saunas and spa areas, and any facility you restrict to adults.

Singpass returns a verified residential status (Citizen, PR, or foreigner) through MyInfo. Instead of a staff member reading a pink or blue IC, the resident rate is confirmed from the same source the government uses. Members on a non-resident status are flagged automatically, so the right tier is applied without a manual check or an awkward conversation at the counter.

Tourists and new arrivals who don't have Singpass use a manual check-in form with their passport details. These entries are clearly marked as unverified on your dashboard, so you always know which members and guests are Singpass-verified and which are self-declared. Most PRs and long-term pass holders already have Singpass, so the fallback is the exception, not the rule.

The full NRIC is never stored. Only a masked NRIC (e.g. S****567A) is kept for display, plus a secure hash to recognise repeat members. Consent is built into the Singpass flow, and only the data you configure is collected. This replaces the IC photocopy at membership sign-up, which PDPC guidance restricts, with a compliant verified record.

Yes. A guest scans your QR code and checks in with Singpass, so a day pass or buddy pass is tied to a real person instead of a blank name on a paper slip. You can cap how often the same identity uses a guest pass, which closes the loophole of one person cycling through free trials or repeat guest visits under different names.

You choose. Verify once at onboarding to prefill the membership record and confirm age and residency, then keep your existing access system for daily entry. Or require a Singpass check-in on every visit for identity-bound entry, which is the strongest control against pass-back at unstaffed and 24-hour gyms.

Minutes. You register an account, add your location with its age and rate rules, and print a QR code. SingVMS is already a registered Singpass relying party, so you don't apply to GovTech or build any integration yourself. Start with 50 free verified check-ins and no credit card.
